Maple Apple & Brie Flatbread with Walnut Crunch

Apple and Brie flatbread topped with chopped walnuts, fresh thyme, and balsamic drizzle, sliced on a wooden serving board.

Monday dinner deserves a little something delicious. This Maple Apple & Brie Flatbread with Walnut Crunch brings together sweet apples, creamy Brie, and toasted walnuts on a crisp, golden crust. A finishing drizzle of Roasted Walnut Oil and Vermont Maple Balsamic makes every bite feel a little special—with very little fuss.

Start with ready-made flatbread, add a handful of ingredients, and let your oven handle the rest. It’s an easy fall dinner for two or a shareable appetizer when friends stop by.

Apples, Brie & a Little Fall Magic

Apples and Brie already make a delicious team. Add the earthy crunch of walnuts and the sweet-tart finish of maple balsamic, and you’ve got a flatbread worth making again.

Thinly sliced apples soften slightly in the oven while keeping a little bite. The Brie melts around them, the edges turn golden, and the walnuts bring just the right crunch. Fancy enough for company? Absolutely. Easy enough for Monday? That’s the idea.

The Finishing Touch: Walnut Oil & Maple Balsamic

Our Roasted Walnut Oil adds a rich, nutty finish that complements the apples and cheese. Drizzle it on after baking so its flavor can shine.

Vermont Maple Balsamic brings sweetness and tang to balance the creamy Brie. Start with a light drizzle—you want a little in each bite without overwhelming the other flavors.

Tips for a Crisp, Delicious Apple Brie Flatbread

  • Choose a firm apple. Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, or Granny Smith all work well. Slice it thinly so it softens during the short baking time.
  • Keep the toppings light. A single layer of apples with spaces between the Brie pieces helps the flatbread bake evenly.
  • Leave the Brie rind on. It’s edible and helps the pieces hold their shape as the centers soften.
  • Add walnuts near the end. They need only a few minutes in the oven to become fragrant and lightly toasted.
  • Finish after baking. Add the walnut oil and maple balsamic just before serving.

Make It Dinner—or Share a Slice

Serve your apple and Brie flatbread with a simple green salad for an easy weeknight meal. For entertaining, cut it into smaller pieces and arrange them on a serving board. It makes a lovely addition to a fall appetizer spread.

A little fresh thyme adds a savory touch, while a pinch of black pepper balances the sweet apples and balsamic.

Make an easy apple Brie flatbread with toasted walnuts, roasted walnut oil, and maple balsamic. A cozy fall appetizer or quick weeknight dinner.

Apple and Brie flatbread topped with chopped walnuts, fresh thyme, and balsamic drizzle, sliced on a wooden serving board.

Ingredients

  • 2 ready-made flatbreads, approximately 6 x 9 inches each
  • 1 medium Honeycrisp or Pink Lady apple, cored and very thinly sliced
  • 8 ounces Brie, chilled and cut into thin pieces
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 tablespoon Roasted Walnut Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Vermont Maple Balsamic, plus more to taste
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves, optional
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F. Place the flatbreads on a large baking sheet without overlapping. If the package specifies a different baking temperature, follow its directions and adjust the cooking time as needed.
  2. Divide the Brie and apple slices between the flatbreads. Arrange in a light, even layer, leaving a small border around the edges.
  3. Bake for 7–10 minutes, until the Brie begins to melt and the edges start to turn golden.
  4. Sprinkle the walnuts over the flatbreads. Bake for another 3–5 minutes, until the crust is crisp, the cheese is melted, and the walnuts are fragrant. Watch closely to prevent the nuts from burning.
  5. Remove from the oven and drizzle evenly with the Roasted Walnut Oil and Vermont Maple Balsamic.
  6. Finish with fresh thyme, if using, and a little black pepper. Slice and serve warm.
