I have a soft spot for strawberry shortcake.
Always have. Always will.

It’s one of those desserts that doesn’t try too hard — sweet berries, tender cake, a little cream, and suddenly everything feels right in the world. And honestly? I am not above using the store-bought shortcake. Sometimes the win is knowing where to put the effort… and where not to.

This version leans into that philosophy.

The strawberries get a quick toss with balsamic vinegar, which sounds fancy but is really just smart. The balsamic deepens the flavor of the berries, brings out their natural sweetness, and adds that “why is this so good?” moment without turning it into a whole project.

Serve it in a tart shell, on classic shortcake, over biscuits, or straight from the bowl with a spoon (no judgment). This is dessert for people who love flavor, not stress.
