An organically grown, full leaf Pu-erh with a deep, damp earthiness and a smooth, richly fermented flavor that puts this tea in a class all its own.
What is Pu-erh tea?
Pu-erh (pronounced poo-AIR) is a post-fermented tea from Yunnan Province, China — one of the oldest and most revered tea traditions in the world. Unlike green or black tea, which are processed and consumed relatively quickly, Pu-erh undergoes a microbial fermentation process in which the leaves are hand-piled and aged, allowing deep internal transformation to occur. The result is a tea unlike any other: dark, complex, earthy, and smooth, with a flavor profile that deepens and evolves with time. This Organic Bold Leaf Pu-erh is a full leaf expression — meaning the whole leaf is preserved rather than broken — which produces a cleaner, more nuanced cup than fannings or dust-grade Pu-erh.
What does it taste like?
Organic Bold Leaf Pu-erh has a smooth, deeply fermented flavor with rich, earthy, damp notes — the characteristic scent and taste of a well-made ripe Pu-erh. The dry leaf is dark and bold in appearance, and upon brewing it releases a uniquely satisfying aroma: mossy, woody, and deeply grounding. Despite its boldness, this Pu-erh is smooth rather than harsh, finishing clean with a lingering warmth. It is a tea for those who want something genuinely different — profound, complex, and deeply satisfying.
Does it contain caffeine?
Yes. Pu-erh is a fully caffeinated tea, with caffeine levels comparable to black tea — typically 40–70mg per cup. It is often enjoyed as a morning tea in China, valued both for its bold flavor and its energizing effect.
How to brew
- Heat cold, filtered water to just below boiling — 190–200°F.
- Use one rounded teaspoon of loose leaf tea per cup.
- Pour the hot water over the leaves.
- Allow the tea to begin infusing at around 1.5 minutes; the ideal full steeping time is 4 minutes.
- Remove the leaves promptly at 4 minutes and enjoy.
One 4 oz. tin yields approximately 40 cups of brewed tea.
Quality Pu-erh leaves can often be re-steeped multiple times, with each successive infusion revealing new layers of depth and complexity.

Why customers love it
A tea in a category of its own. Pu-erh is not black tea, not green tea, and not oolong. It is its own ancient tradition — post-fermented, aged, and unlike anything else on the shelf. For adventurous tea drinkers, it is a revelation.
Certified organic and full leaf. This is not a commodity Pu-erh. The organic certification and full leaf presentation signal premium sourcing and careful processing — the whole leaf preserves more of the tea's natural complexity than broken-leaf grades.
Smooth despite its boldness. Pu-erh has a reputation for intensity, but a well-made ripe Pu-erh like this one is actually deeply smooth — rich and earthy without bitterness or astringency. It is bold in character, not bold in harshness.
Re-steepable for exceptional value. Full leaf Pu-erh holds up to multiple infusions, often improving on the second and third steep. One tin delivers significantly more cups than the yield number suggests for customers who re-steep their leaves.
A conversation-starting specialty offering. Few gourmet retailers carry a quality loose leaf Pu-erh. Stocking this tin sets your tea selection apart and gives knowledgeable customers a reason to take notice — and return.
