Caramelized Pear on Warm Brie

Ingredients

  • 2 green onions
  • 2 Tbsp Mild Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 pear (cut into ½-inch cubes)
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • ¼ cup apple juice or apple cider
  • 2 Tbsp Cinnamon Pear Dark Balsamic Vinegar
  • 1 (4 oz) round of brie
  • ¼ cup chopped walnuts
  • Optional: Fresh rosemary and mint for garnish

Directions

  1. Wash and trim green onions. Finely chop, separating greens from whites; set aside.
  2. In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, sauté the white parts of the onions in Mild Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil until soft, about 1 minute.
  3. Add chopped pear, brown sugar, apple juice, and Cinnamon Pear Dark Balsamic Vinegar. Stir and bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to medium. Simmer 10–12 minutes, until the mixture thickens and the pears are caramelized.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  5. Place the brie in an oven-safe dish or brie baker. Pour the caramelized pear mixture over the top and sprinkle with walnuts.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes, just until the brie softens.
  7. Garnish with green onion tops, rosemary, or mint. Serve warm with baguette slices or crackers. Enjoy!
