A crusty, homemade artisan-style bread made with Tuscan Herb Olive Oil for a soft, airy loaf with savory, herby flavor in every slice.
Ingredients
-
3 cups all-purpose flour or bread flour
-
1 ½ tsp salt
-
1 tsp sugar
-
2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
-
1 ¼ cups warm water
-
2 tbsp Tuscan Herb Olive Oil (or Butter Olive Oil), plus more for brushing
-
Optional: flaky sea salt for topping
Directions
In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
Add flour, salt, and Tuscan Herb Olive Oil. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
Knead by hand for 8–10 minutes, or use a stand mixer with a dough hook for 5–6 minutes, until smooth.
Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1 ½ hours, or until doubled.
Shape dough into a round loaf and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Cover and let rise another 30–45 minutes.
Preheat oven to 425°F.
Brush the loaf lightly with Tuscan Herb Olive Oil and sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired.
Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until golden brown and crusty.
Let cool slightly before slicing.
Recipe Note
Optional Variations
Use Butter Olive Oil for a softer, buttery-style loaf.
Add chopped rosemary, thyme, or oregano to the dough.
Sprinkle with grated Parmesan before baking.
Serve with olive oil and balsamic for dipping.
Toast slices and use for bruschetta or sandwiches.
Tracey’s Notes
This is one of those simple recipes that makes the whole house feel cozy. The Tuscan Herb Olive Oil gives the bread just enough savory flavor to make it feel special, but it still keeps that classic homemade bread comfort. It’s beautiful warm from the oven with a little extra olive oil for dipping.
