A Little Citrus Break (Because Winter Can Feel Heavy)
Share
There’s something about citrus in the winter that instantly feels lighter. When meals start leaning rich and cozy, this is the kind of dish I crave — fresh, simple, and quietly refreshing.
This citrus bowl combines juicy oranges, grapefruit, and crisp apple slices, gently soaked in a light mix of Grapefruit White Balsamic and fresh citrus juice. It’s bright without being sharp, lightly sweet without tasting sugary, and finishes clean every time.
I love this after a heavier meal, alongside brunch, or anytime I want something fresh that doesn’t try too hard. If you’ve only used Grapefruit White Balsamic in salads, this is an easy, delicious place to start.

A refreshing mix of winter citrus and apples gently dressed with Grapefruit White Balsamic. Light, bright, and naturally juicy, this simple fruit bowl is perfect for brunch, dessert, or a palate cleanser.
Ingredients
- 2 oranges, peeled and sliced
- 1 grapefruit, peeled and segmented
- 1 lemon, thinly sliced or segmented
- 1 crisp apple (Honeycrisp or Pink Lady), thinly sliced
- Optional: fresh mint leaves, for garnish
Citrus Balsamic Soaking Liquid (½ cup total)
-
¼ cup Grapefruit Balsamic Vinegar
- ¼ cup fresh orange juice (or a mix of orange + grapefruit juice)
Directions
- Arrange the prepared fruit in a serving bowl.
- In a measuring cup, whisk together the grapefruit balsamic and fresh citrus juice (totaling ½ cup).
- Pour the liquid evenly over the fruit — it should lightly coat the fruit and pool slightly at the bottom, as shown.
- Gently toss once or twice to distribute.
- Chill for 15–30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.
Recipe Note
- This is a soaking bowl, not a dressed salad — the fruit should sit in the liquid.
- If serving later, give a gentle stir before serving to redistribute the juices.
