Grilled Mackerel with Herb Lemon Marinade


  • 4 mackerel fillets
  • 3 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Lemon wedges for serving
  • Sliced red onions and pickled onions for garnish
  • Fresh parsley for garnish


  • In a small bowl, mix together the EVOO, lemon juice, minced garlic, chopped parsley, chopped dill, salt, and pepper.
  • Place the mackerel fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over the fish. Ensure the fillets are evenly coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  • Remove the mackerel fillets from the marinade and place them on the grill, skin side down. Grill for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the fish is cooked through and has a nice char.
  • Transfer the grilled mackerel to a serving platter. Garnish with lemon wedges, sliced red onions, pickled onions, and fresh parsley.
