Vinegarette is not a real word (Try your spellcheck). It was in the Websters 1913 dictionary, but later was found to be an eggcorn (a misheard pronunciation), like ‘all intensive purposes’ or ‘tough road to hoe’ or ‘wreckless driving’. The correct word is vinaigrette (vinaigre is French for vinegar; vin means wine; aigre means sour or acidic). Folks who don’t get it think they hear “vinegar” a word they know.
