The Bloody Mary That Eats Like a Snack (and Drinks Like a Reset)
Share
The days after Christmas are funny.
You’re not hosting.
You’re not cooking a big meal.
You’re not ready for “clean eating” either.
You want something savory, satisfying, and just a little indulgent — without committing to a full production.
Enter: the Bloody Mary.
This isn’t just a drink. It’s a vibe. A snack. A solution for leftover cheese boards, stray pickles, and that “what are we even eating today?” feeling.
What makes this one special is a small but mighty upgrade:
A drizzle of good olive oil for roundness and body
And a splash of balsamic for depth, balance, and that subtle why is this so good? moment
The result is rich but not heavy, savory but clean, and exactly right for the slow days between Christmas and New Year’s.
Put on comfy clothes. Pour one of these. Snack while you sip.
This is how we ease back into real life.

A bold, savory Bloody Mary enhanced with extra virgin olive oil for richness and a touch of balsamic vinegar for balance. Perfect for after-holiday brunches, slow afternoons, or when a drink doubles as a snack.
Ingredients
- 4 oz tomato juice
- 1 ½ oz vodka (optional)
- ½ oz fresh lemon juice
-
½ tsp balsamic vinegar (Traditional or dark aged style works best)
- ½ tsp robust extra virgin olive oil
- 2–3 dashes Worcestershire sauce
- 1–2 dashes hot sauce (to taste)
- Pinch celery salt
- Pinch black pepper
- Ice
Garnishes
- Celery stalk
- Cherry tomatoes
- Olives
- Cornichons or pickles
- Cooked bacon strip
- Lemon wedge
Directions
- Fill a tall glass with ice.
- Add tomato juice, vodka (if using), lemon juice, balsamic vinegar, and olive oil.
- Add Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, celery salt, and black pepper.
- Stir gently until well combined and slightly frothy.
- Taste and adjust seasoning or heat as needed.
- Garnish generously — this is part drink, part snack.
Recipe Note
- The olive oil adds body and smoothness without making the drink heavy.
- Balsamic replaces the need for added sugar and brings balance to the acidity.
- For a non-alcoholic version, skip the vodka and add a splash of sparkling water.
- This is an excellent way to use leftover antipasto garnishes from holiday boards.
